Iris A. Albizu-Rivera was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Ms. Albizu earned her Juris Doctor Degree at the Inter-American University School of Law in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After obtaining her J.D., she received her license to practice law in Puerto Rico as an Attorney and Notary Public. Ms. Albizu commenced practicing in Puerto Rico and developed a substantial clientele base in civil litigation with an emphasis in Family and Estate Law. After that, Ms. Albizu relocated to the Washington, D.C. area; she worked as an independent contractor with the U.S. Department of Justice handling complex, high-profile litigation. Now, in Austin, Texas, she opened Albizu Law Firm focusing her practice with emphasis on Family and Immigration and Nationality Law. Ms. Albizu is part the State Bar of Texas and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, she maintains her office where she practices law of-counsel with her father, Attorney Angel R. Albizu, Sr., helping non-resident people living the Island with legal matters in Puerto Rico.
Ms. Albizu serves as a Board Advisor for the PRFDance, Inc., in Austin, Texas and has handled humanitarian immigration issues. She is an active pro-bono attorney for different immigrant service non-profit organizations in Austin, Texas.
Having been born and raised on the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico, Ms. Albizu is a Native Spanish Speaker. She is a mother of two beautiful children, and her husband works as an Architect for an International company in Austin, Texas.
